Wallace Leland "Chuck" Tingler, 82, peacefully departed this life on October 7, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
A public visitation and reception will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 10th at Storke Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Bowling Green, Va. The family will have a private viewing and service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.

Chuck was born on April 5, 1935 in Covington, Virginia. His family moved to Caroline County where he graduated from C.T. Smith High School and where he met and married the love of his life, Fannie Lee Driver. They were married for 63 years.

Chuck served his country in the Virginia Army National Guard. He attended the University of Richmond night school where he studied accounting and in 1961 passed the Virginia Board of Accountants test to become a Certified Public Accountant. He later became a guest lecturer at the University. In 1963 he joined Mitchell, Wiggins & Company and over the next 25 years rose through the ranks to become a partner in the firm. In 1992, Chuck, along with Nancy Miller, acquired the Fredericksburg area practice of Mitchell Wiggins under the firm name of Tingler and Miller. The firm later became Tingler, Miller and Guy. He retired from public accounting in 2001, but started a new career in real estate and philanthropy when he became the Chairman of the Board of both William A. Cooke, Incorporated and the William A. Cooke Foundation. In 2003 he was inducted as an honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Accountants.
He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball, fishing with his grandchildren, watching his beloved Atlanta Braves with Fannie Lee, and spending time with his friends and family. He was actively involved in volunteering for many years with County Line Baptist Church, the Ladysmith Ruritan Club, Caroline Little League, and the Louisa Education Foundation.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Fannie Lee Tingler; his children, Wallace L. "Pepper" Tingler, Jr. (Betsy), Patricia L. Lewis, Theresa L. Tingler, Randall L. Tingler (Jean), and Bernard Lawrence "Larry" Tingler (Penny); his 13 grandchildren, Lee , Micky, Megan, Don, Daniel, Tyler, Kiki, Maria, Lewis, Ashley, Madelyn, Rich, and Edward; 10 great grandchildren, his brother, Wayne Tingler (Sherry) and two sisters, Frances Samples and Martha Hurst (Don); his nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents George W. and Iva Carper Tingler and his son-in-law, Edward Arthur Lewis, Jr.
