Virginia Pollard Bowie, 88 of Oak Grove, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband; Eugene W. Bowie, Sr.

Virginia had a long career working as a bookkeeper first at the Navy Shipyard in Washington DC, NSWC Dahlgren, 25 years at Ingleside Plantation Nursery, for her son, Larry in his business as well as the family business, Winter Harbor Seafood. Virginia also had served for a time as Postmaster of Oak Grove Post Office.

"Ginny" (aka Mamaw) is survived by her sons, Eugene Bowie, Jr. and his wife Max and Larry Bowie and his wife Judy; grandchildren, Mercy Bowie and her husband Josh Lukens, Gabrielle Bowie, Eugene (Gene) Bowie III and his wife Megan, Beth Fisher and her husband Mike, Brandon Bowie and his wife Jessica, Whitney Cannon and her husband Shawn; great grandchildren, Immi, Cai, Kyra, Nicholas, Landen, Eugene IV (Geno), Raelynn, Sawyer, Brant, A.J., Brayden and Jamison. Some very special people, not only to her but to her family, had cared for Virginia as well. They include Linda Beavers, Dina Stephan and Joyce Roach. Thank you for your love.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 22nd at 11:00 AM in Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. After the graveside, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Ste. 401, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Online condolences may be left for the family at
