SNIDER, Travis Ray
Senior Master Sergeant Travis Ray Snider, 40, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Winston-Salem, NC.

A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was a surgical technician who also served as consultant to the United States Surgeon General. SMSgt Snider was born on April 28, 1978 in Goldsboro, NC to Eunice Trigger Saunders and Alvin Ray Snider. In 1996, he joined the United States Air Force and was assigned to Barksdale Airforce Base in Bossier, LA. Travis served 18 years in the United States Air Force. He served many tours of duty overseas. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Airforce Commendation Medal, Airforce Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. SMSgt Snider was a brave and loyal Airman, as well as a loving and dedicated father.

He had an adventurous spirit and would often gather his friends and family to join him on road trips to explore new places. SMSgt Snider was a caring person who would make everyone he met feel very special and cared for. He loved to play guitar, read, and create art. He was a youth pastor and he enjoyed studying his scriptures.

He is survived by his son, Sabian; daughters, Ciara and Willow; his parents, Eunice and Ray; his brothers, John, Douglas, and Bobby; his sisters, Maggie, Lindsey, Cavalla, and Cimarron Rose; and his stepsisters, Kristy, Amanda, and April.

A viewing will take place at the King George chapel of Storke Funeral Home (11089 James Madison Parkway King George, VA.) on Sunday, June 3, from 6:00-8:00. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 4th at 10:00 am at Grace United Methodist Church 1655 Claymont Road Colonial Beach, Virginia. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the family cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in his honor to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
