Norman J. Fenerty, 80, of Bowling Green died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he served 3 years in the Canadian Army before joining the United States Army where he retired after 20 years of service. His time in Vietnam awarded him a bronze star. He retired after 20 years of service, as a civilian employee at Fort A. P. Hill. In 1973, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. He was a lifelong member of VFW #10295. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and cutting grass. Even though he had a stroke over 15 years ago, he still was very active and wanted to be "on the go". As he would say "Let's go!" He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; fifteen years earlier.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas Francis Fenerty (Michelle) and Bill Fenerty; a sister, Eliene "Tim" Boudreau; two brothers, Arthur "Bub" Fenerty and Raymond "Joe" Fenerty; and three grandchildren, Dawson Jacob Fenerty, Thomas Daniel Fenerty and Jared Timberlake.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW#10295 or Leashes for Valor
