Norma Jean Burns, a loving sister, stepmother, and aunt, entered eternal rest Tuesday October 1, 2018 at the age of 94 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in Sandridge, Illinois on January 20, 1924. Norma was married to the late LTC (Ret) Sammie Burns in 1975 and resided in Dahlgren. After her husband died she moved to Colonial Beach and stayed for over 22 years.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, 5 siblings, a step daughter and a niece. She is survived by one brother and his wife, two step children, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and over 50 nieces/nephews/great nieces/great nephews.

Working many different positions throughout her career, she found that waitressing was well suited to her considering her love of meeting new people. Norma was an avid bowler and was on a bowling team well into her eighties. She and her friends would meet weekly to play games or cards. After moving to Arizona, she continued her relationship with her circle of friends in Virginia. She truly enjoyed and loved life. Her favorite past time was watching professional football.

Norma is at peace now and back where she wanted to be. She will be laid to rest at Historyland Memorial Park, King George next to her husband on Tuesday October 16 at 10:00am. On-line condolences may be expressed to the family at www.storkefuneralhome.com
