Mabel Kidd Houston, 89, of Ruther Glen, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Birch Gardens in Staunton.
Born in Caroline, Mabel was a lifelong resident of Caroline County and was a member of Carmel Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Joseph R. Houston, Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Gay Weston (Chuck) of Prince George and Faye Giles of Staunton; six grandchildren, Chris Weston (Carrie), Angela Weston Hoff (Brian), Julia Weston Hendrix (Ryan), Dana Weston Dalton (Jonathan), Joseph Giles (Erica), and Emily Giles Cook (Ryan); eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Birch Gardens for the kind and loving care given to their mother during the past two years.
A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Castlebury and Rev. Joseph Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Carmel Baptist Church or Cardinal Baptist Church.
