Lynette J. Harrison, 88 of Colonial Beach passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018. Born and raised in Chicago, she met her future husband, Robert W. "Jaby" Harrison on a trip to Colonial Beach and was married in 1949.

Lynette had been a member and Sunday school teacher at Colonial Beach Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Colonial Beach Fire Department. Lynette enjoyed spending time with her family and was great lover of animals. She worked several years as a substitute teacher and ten years as a bookkeeper at the Texaco Plant in Colonial Beach. She began working for Paul Slaw at Nash and Slaw Funeral Home in 1981 and continued with Ed Taliaferro and then with Storke Funeral Home until her recent illness.

Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Bobby Harrison (Debbie) and Jimmie Harrison (Candy) five grandchildren, Stephen, Lauren, Anna, Rebecca and Joseph; five great grandchildren, Clara, Weldon, Moises, Aislyn and Evelyn.

The family will receive friends at the Colonial Beach chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Monday, November 12th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be Tuesday, November 13th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Historyland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colonial Beach Fire Department, 312 Colonial Ave. Colonial Beach, VA 22443; Colonial Beach Ladies Auxillary 312 Colonial Ave. Colonial Beach, VA 22443 or Colonial Beach Rescue Squad, 225 Dennison St. Colonial Beach, VA 22443.
