Dr. Loran F. Carrier, 82, of Hanover, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born in Scobey, Montana, he was one of the most important music composers of the 20th Century. He was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation and a retired music professor at VCU. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Carrier, a son, Jeffrey Loran Carrier and two brothers, Leo Carrier and Marcel Carrier. Survivors include his son, Rev. Mark Carrier and his daughter, Genine Carrier; his granddaughter, Janelle Carrier; two sisters, Dora Reich and Joyce Fischer. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Sat. Oct. 6, 2018 at St. Mary of the Annunciation, 10306 Ladysmith Road, Ladysmith, VA. 22501. Burial will follow in St. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Woodford, VA.
