Justin Lee Howard, 24, peacefully passed away in his sleep while visiting his grandparents' home at Lake Caroline on July 5, 2018.

Justin is survived by his parents, Douglas (Buddy) and Julie Howard; his sisters, Meredith and Lauren; grandparents, Michael and Loretta Brindock and Douglas and Cathy Howard; uncles, Kevin Brindock and family and Chris Howard and family; aunts, Kristine Snell and family and Shondell Howard and family, and many other relatives.

Justin graduated from Caroline High School in 2012, where he was a member of the JROTC program, the cross-country and soccer team. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America where he earned his Eagle Scout award. Justin worked at Food Lion in Ladysmith while attending high school. He also was a part time swimming instructor at the YMCA in Ladysmith and worked as a lifeguard at Lake Land 'Or. Justin worked as an EMT for Lifeline in Richmond and at the time of his passing was an EMT for the Southside Virginia Emergency Crew in Petersburg. He was a longtime member of the Caroline County Volunteer Fire and Rescue, which was the love of his life and where he spent most of his free time. Justin was a member of Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church in Ladysmith, where he was a former member of the youth group and other church activities. Prior to moving to Caroline County, Justin was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Stafford.

The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Sunday, July 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral will be held Monday, July 9th at 10:00 am in Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church, Ladysmith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send a donation in Justin's memory to the Caroline County Fire and Rescue or to Southside Emergency Crew in Petersburg.
