George Ellis Rick Jr., age 73, passed away on July 25, 2017.

George is survived by his sister, Emily Rick Parry and his seven children and spouses; David and Linda Rick, Lisa and Baris Sarsilmaz, Kathryn Rick, Bryan Binney, Amy Rick Kennedy, Charlie and Amy Kennedy, Wayland and Carie Meyers, and Christine Bechtel. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Hunter Rick, Brock and Liam Sarsilmaz, Skylar and Paris Binney, Justin and Ashley Kennedy, Kobe and Julian Rick, and Maddie and Emily Myers. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Meredith and Robbie Dooley, and their children Graham and Parry, as well as his cousins Jay, Bob, and Alan Warden. George was preceded in passing by his mother, Emily Dodd Rick, his father, George Rick Sr., and his younger sister, Susie Rick, who passed away in 1989.

George spent his childhood and the latter part of his life living in King George County, Virginia. George was born on September 27, 1943 to George Rick Sr. and Emily Dodd Rick. He graduated from the University of Richmond in Virginia with a degree in Mathematics. His career included work for many large corporations including Boeing, IBM, and Wang Laboratories before establishing his own company, Secure Systems Group. George married Linda Berry of Dahlgren, VA in 1965 and they had five children together. In 1984 he married Jennifer Myers, who has two children, Wayland and Christine. Jennifer and George started Secure Systems Group together and ran the successful business for many years. Later he married Debbie Serres-Rick, whose daughter, Jennifer, preceded George in passing. George had an entrepreneurial spirit and was an active man who was deeply involved in his career and building businesses throughout much of his life. He also enjoyed hiking, art, writing, music and playing chess and poker. Family and friends will always remember George fondly as a philosophical person, with a questioning spirit and a good sense of humor about life and all of its ups and downs. He was also a family historian, and loved to tell his children stories about the deep sense of family history that was embedded in his heart while growing up in King George.

George requested that no service be held for him. His life will be celebrated through a small family gathering in California later this year.
