Gabriel Valdivia Perez, 19, of Ladysmith passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was born in San Diego and lived a military lifestyle in different worldwide locations while moving around as a Navy-brat. He is a 2016 graduate of Caroline High School and a proud 4-year JROTC cadet. Gabriel attended Germanna Community College in pursuit of a hopeful career in biomedical engineering. He also worked as a Life Guard Supervisor at the Caroline YMCA. His passionate hobbies include snowboarding, hiking, marksmanship, physical fitness, swimming, and nutrition awareness. At the time of his passing, Gabriel had begun making preparation for a hopeful Navy career as a Hospital Corpsman (Biomedical Equipment Technician). His heart and soul was also that he one day serve as a Navy Corpsman in the Fleet Marine Force. Survivors include his parents, Frank and Letty Perez; his siblings, Bobby, Frankie, Gabriella and Isabella Perez; his maternal grandmother, Maria Garcia; his paternal grandmother, Mary Perez, and his family dogs, Abby and Dolce. Though he may have been young, Gabriel lived a full life and had seen the world at age 19 while being surrounded by family and friends that loved him unconditionally. He was hilariously goofy in face/noise making while making everyone laugh, had excellent music taste, respectfully honest, fun loving, and had a big heart to always help others during their time of need whether help was asked for or not. He will be tremendously missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. A viewing will be held at Storke Funeral Home in Bowling Green VA on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Ladysmith. The date and time will be updated on the funeral home website when they are determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Park Foundation charity. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.storkefuneralhome.com.
