Our beloved Clyde Benjamin Carneal, 91, of Colonial Beach has gone home peacefully Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Norma Jean Carneal; his children, Bryant Carneal, Roger Chewning, Tammy Chewning, Debbie Starcher, Donna Hooker, Crystal Brinson, Ben Carneal and David Carneal; seven siblings, Eugene Carneal, Irene Swisher, Royland Carneal, Earline Perry, Berkley Carneal and Pearl Davis; 24 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Samuel and Effie Virginia Carneal and his sisters, Casey Gayle and Ester Long. He served in the United States Army and served in 100th Infantry Division during World War II and the Carpentry Union #1078. A graveside service will take place 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Carneal Family Cemetery at Marye. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary Washington Hospice.
