Bruce F. Verne, 62, of Woodford died Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Born in Richmond, he was the son of Lucille and Don Verne. He was very active at St. George's Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg and he loved playing and teaching classical piano.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby. Survivors include a sister, Donna "Dinky" Raynes (Mike); two brothers, Mike Verne (Elaine) and Johnny Verne (Wendy); Bobby's wife, Alice Verne; nine nieces and nephews, Brian Verne, Josh Raynes, Don Tingler, Jennifer Simmons, Sarah Derr, Daniel Tingler, Lindsay Bermont, Tyler Tingler, and Taylor Verne; seven great-nieces and nephews, Dru and Blake Simmons, Duke Raynes, Levi Derr, Jacob and Addison Tingler, and Brooke Verne; a very good friend and roommate, Shane Lucia. Bruce loved cats especially his cat, Oliver.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Catherine Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday, July 31, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church or the Fredericksburg SPCA.
