Annaliese Gibbs Anthony, 85, of Colonial Beach, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 7, 2017. She was born on March 10, 1932 in Maple Shade, N.J. to Earl and Katherine Gibbs. After graduating from Moorestown High School, she served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. During her service, she flew on many search and rescue missions seeking survivors of downed aircraft in the southern New Jersey area. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Frank Anthony. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Colonial Beach since 1952. Annaliese was an avid history buff with a keen eye for Native American artifacts. She also loved all animals. She is survived by her son, Gary Anthony (Barbara) of Colonial Beach; her daughter, Katherine Anthony (Moom Luu) of New York, N.Y.; her granddaughter Erin Bartley (Glen) of King George; her great-granddaughter and namesake, 3-month-old Annaliese Brooke; her sister Louise Williams of Mount Laurel, N.J.; in addition to her niece, Sharon Appalucci (Ted); and her nephew Kevin Williams (Bonnie). In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 203 Dennison St., Colonial Beach or the Colonial Beach Humane Society, PO Box 393, Colonial Beach. A memorial service will be held in Autumn.
