Mark Ganrude, 57, of Ruther Glen died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home. Mark was born on July 8, 1960 in Illinois to Verdayne and Ruth (Krueger) Ganrude. Mark graduated from LaCrescent High School in 1978. He served his country in the Army with the 82nd Airbourne Division Fort Bragg, NC. Mark earned his BA from Strayer University in electrical engineering. He later earned an MBA from Strayer. Recently, Mark had been employed by Old Dominion Electric for over 15 years.
Mark loved fishing, especially at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He played bass guitar and drums. He also crafted guitars by hand, creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Mark was an excellent golfer and an active bowler in a Fredericksburg bowling league. Smart, sensible, generous, always willing to help, and a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, Mark will be missed by many.
Mark is survived by his daughters, Brittany Ganrude of Ruther Glen, VA and Sarah Ganrude of Ruther Glen, VA and his former wife, Annette Jewell of Ruther Glen, VA. He is further survived by his seven siblings, Randall (Deena) Ganrude of LaCrosse, WI, Patricia (Russ) Konrad of River Falls, WI, Elizabeth (Robert) Finamore of Cumming, GA, Joseph Horihan of Caledonia, MN, James Horihan of Hokah, MN, Jeffrey (Nikki) Horihan of LaCrosse, WI and the Rev. Robert Horihan of Winona, MN. He leaves many nieces and nephews as well as a very special friend of the family, Heather Crabtree.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Verdayne Ganrude, his grandparents, his stepfather Charles Horihan, his mother Ruth Horihan, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, October 23rd at 1 p.m. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church located at 10306 Ladysmith Road, Ladysmith, VA. Family and friends may visit from 12 p.m to time of service. Storke Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
