James Marshal Hughes II Obituary

James Marshal Hughes II, 73, of Woodford, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018, at his home.
Born in Concord, North Carolina, Marshal had retired as the Head Librarian of the Technical Library at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren. He also served as a Court Deputy for the Caroline County Sheriff's Office.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, and his daughter, Christi; his sisters, Deane Harker and Sandy Shackelford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marshal was preceded in death by his mother and father (Major James M. Hughes and Helen W. Hughes); his brothers-in-law (Jimmy Shackelford and Chris Harker); and his niece (Dee Dee Hairfield). Marshal was a loving son, brother, husband and dad. He always loved animals through his childhood and adult years. He was the owner of dogs, cats, ferrets, goats, and llamas. If a four-legged creature needed a home, Marshal always had room for one more.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 am in the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place later in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg.
